SCI maintains a staff of professional chaplains with interfaith and cross-cultural backgrounds. Chaplains assist thousands each year, extending a hand of friendship and hospitality.

Maritime Education

SCI’s Center for Maritime Education provides career development opportunities for mariners through cutting-edge training.

Law & Advocacy

SCI operates the world’s only full-time, free legal aid program for merchant mariners. The Center for Seafarers’ Rights works to improve laws and practices that protect mariners and increase the safety and security of the maritime industry.

The Rev. Megan Sanders coordinates events for retired mariners including pastoral care, religious services (as requested), and monthly meetings of the Edwin J. O'Hara Chapter of the American Merchant Marine Veterans.
