The Seafarers' Club at the Seamen's Church Institute provides a friendly and safe environment for relaxation, recreation, and spiritual refreshment. Stop by Monday through Friday to have a cup of coffee, shoot a game of pool, pray at our St. Nicholas Chapel, or read a variety of magazines.
Active and retired mariners visiting New York or living nearby are warmly invited to our fellowship meals on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month. Starting at 3 pm and ending at 5 pm, this gathering may include a movie, musical performance, or other entertainment. The Rev. Megan Sanders, SCI's first Maritime Intern, hosts this festive occasion where seafaring stories are re-told to old and new friends.
At SCI-New York, Chaplain Sanders also coordinates events for retired mariners including monthly meetings of the American Merchant Marine Veterans, Edwin J. O'Hara Chapter. If you are a mariner in the New York area in need of pastoral care, please contact her at msanders@seamenschurch.org
Chaplain Sanders also visits vessels with SCI chaplain in the Port of New York & New Jersey and receives advocacy training from SCI's maritime attorneys.
