Tune In This Weekend to See SCI on PBS

Jan 7, 2011

by the Rev. David M. Rider, President & Executive Director

In late November, shortly after the Seamen's Church Institute's (SCI) Port Newark International Seafarers' Center reopened, a Public Broadcasting System (PBS) producer and crew spent two days filming our outreach service to seafarers.

This weekend, the segment airs as part of the 30-minute Religion & Ethics News Weekly program. The show plays several times over the weekend, and the piece also will be posted to the program's website. To check the show's time in your media market, please click here

I hope you can catch this glimpse into SCI's ministry to seafarers. SCI expresses particular thanks to the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, along with New York Container Terminal, for access and security clearance related to this taping.

UPDATE: The nearly 8-minute segment aired as part of the program Religion and Ethics Newsweekly and features chaplains and seafarers aboard ships and at SCI’s newly reopened International Seafarers’ Center, familiarizing viewers with the routines of sea life. If you missed it, watch it online here.
